Events and Programs
Every semester, lectures and programs on various topics concerning diversity and multicultural topics are offered on campus. Learn more about our signature events and programs below.
Larger events such as the Diversity Celebration (opens in a new tab), an annual multicultural festival, allow a larger body of students to learn about diversity through programs, interactive workshops, and artistic productions. The Diversity Celebration at Appalachian State University features performing arts, craft workshops, educational exhibits, and ethnic foods by local and regional presenters and artisans. This free event seeks to provide participants with a safe environment for learning about others while encouraging a deeper exploration of differences. The annual Diversity Celebration enhances Appalachian State University’s mission of “accepting the responsibility to be actively involved in addressing the educational, economic, cultural, and societal needs of the changing region, state, nation, and world,” by providing a venue where diverse perspectives, cultures, and values are accepted, appreciated and celebrated.
